Students Spend ‘Election Eve’ with Congressman Sam Farr

Several Mount Madonna School 11th and 12th grade students spent Monday’s ‘election eve’ engaging with supporters of incumbent Congressman Sam Farr (D, Monterey) at an event at the Monterey Cookhouse. The students were invited to attend as Farr’s special guests, and were accompanied by MMS high school social studies teacher Ward Mailliard, Farr has represented the 20th Congressional District in Congress since 1993, and was reelected by a huge margin on Tuesday.

“The participating seniors wanted to thank Sam for his help in arranging interviews for they and their classmates with Congressional members during our trip to Washington, D.C. in May,” explains Mailliard, “For the juniors, it was their first time attending this sort of an event, and a good opportunity for them to learn how to meet people and have conversations in a different sort of social situation. Sam is always very complimentary of our students, and students heard him telling the assembled guests that Mount Madonna School has one of the best government studies programs in the country, which of course made them very proud.”
