Student Spotlight: Isabella Bettencourt

Name, age, grade, city of residence
Isabella Bettencourt, 17, senior, Aptos

What inspires you?
I am inspired by my beautiful mother. She works so hard every day to give my brother and me the most amazing opportunities and I will never be able to thank her enough.

What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
My favorite subject is chemistry because I love looking at the world on a smaller lever and investigating all the tiny things that make up our surroundings.

If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
I would change our world leaders’ process of negotiation, because often they stop negotiating and turn to war too quickly.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I would go to Italy because I want to eat all the delicious food!

Name one big challenge in your life right now:
One of my current biggest challenges is applying to college. It has turned out to be a very intense process.

What is your dream job?
I’m not sure. I want to do some sort of chemical engineering, but there are a lot of things I could do in that field.

What are your three favorite things?
My family, my friends and the beach.
What do you want to do after high school?

I would like to go to college; we’ll see how it goes.

Something that makes you smile:
My two little cousins, Ava and Marisa, and my two best friends, Fiona and Lillian.

A favorite MMS memory – and why?
It’s hard to pick just one; I make such amazing memories every day! I think one favorite memory of mine is from when I was a sophomore. My class and I were on our second Catalina trip and we were staying at the Wrigley Center. My whole class was hanging out in our living room playing games and telling jokes. It was a really amazing night and it’s one I definitely won’t forget!

Top three most played songs on your iTunes or iPod:
Overwhelming, 80’s Films, and Maybe IDK by Jon Bellion

(I really love Jon Bellion!)
