The Mount Madonna School girls volleyball team didn’t consider it a slight that, despite being from one of the smallest schools in the state in terms of enrollment, the Division V Central Coast Section champion Hawks were bumped up to D-IV for the NorCal playoffs.

“I told the girls it’s a compliment,” coach Erin Mitchell said. “I do think it’s crazy because we’re so significantly smaller than other D-V teams. But the girls were super excited instead of saying, ‘That’s not fair.’ We’re excited to show off and show what we’ve got.” Read more
