Santa Cruz Sentinel: Mount Madonna School Screens ‘The Test and The Art of Thinking’

SANTA CRUZ — Mount Madonna School will host the first of two film screenings that examine the ACT and SAT test industry. “The Test and The Art of Thinking” documentary will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Resource Center for Nonviolence, 612 Ocean St.

There will be another screening at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Community Playhouse in Morgan Hill.

Tickets are $5 and after the film, a forum will be held to discuss the screenings.

According to a Mount Madonna press release, more than 3 million high school students take the Scholastic Aptitude Test and American College testing, more commonly known as the SAT and ACT, every year. In the past, there have been questions pertaining to what the tests actually measure as well as how they determine college readiness. “The Test and The Art of Thinking,” presents an array of interviews with students, parents, counselors, and test-prep specialists that give insight into the questions that challenge the testing industry as well as the American education system that upholds them. Read more
