Parent Role in Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Program at Mount Madonna school is a major part of our curriculum.

For the high school production to be a success, all parents and guardians are asked to participate in some way. To indicate the preferred area where you would like to support the production of Fiddler on the Roof, please fill out the survey by November 16. Go to survey (Survey Monkey)

Each area will have a coordinator who will contact parents helping in their area with the details of what is needed and scheduling. If you have any questions regarding participation, please contact Wendy or Anurag at 408-847-2717.

Celebrating 33 Years of Magic: Cast of 200 Onstage in “Ramayana”

What could be better than a story with a prince and princess in love, gold-spangled costumes, fierce dragon, and a heroic rescue? Now in its 33rd year, Mount Madonna School’s dazzling show is the longest running production of this timeless Indian epic in the western hemisphere, and an event for the whole family!

Local Students Show Art Work in Santa Cruz Exhibition

Works by five Mount Madonna high school students – Brooke Staveland, Joseph Frediani, Kavi Duvvoori, Taylor Krilanovich and Uma O’Neill – are among those currently on exhibit in the Santa Cruz Art League’s 56th Annual High School Show. The show features more than 750 works from high school students throughout the county, and the public is invited to an artists’ reception on Saturday, May 7 from 3:00 to 5:00pm.

Ramayana Casting Reflections

With the Ramayana audition process completing, it is appropriate to acknowledge the challenges of casting both for performers and directors. For some, this will not be a big issue, while others may experience disappointment. The key is finding a way to move forward positively. Most of us have heard the statement before – every role is pivotally important – and while a bit of a cliché, it is proven true. Staring at the cast list, you will simply see a character title or group (like Demon Choir, Monkey or Demon) by your name. We may want to quickly categorize our roles as good or bad.

Welcome to the wonder that is the Mount Madonna School Ramayana!

Whether you are a first-timer or a returning veteran, be prepared for an exciting experience of growth, challenge and fun! Being in a play, and helping to produce a play, are major commitments that demand a great amount of personal time and effort. The key is to invest fully in the proceedings and enjoy the creative process of discovery all the way through our children’s wonderful performances.

Get to the HURRAY! Find ways to look forward to perform. Commitment, dedication and spark comes easier when we embrace opportunity-
Don’t go for getting the role; go for inhabiting character. For 90 seconds, live their life, think their thoughts, and move in their body. That’s exciting!
