Mount Madonna School (MMS) is pleased to announce that senior Emma Fladeboe has been named a Commended Student in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program. Earning this distinction signifies that a student scored in the top 5% nationwide of the more than 1.5 million students who took the 2009 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“Emma is an intelligent and diligent student, who thinks deeply about issues and ideas,” notes Jivanti Rutansky, Head of Upper School at Mount Madonna.
Fladeboe, who lives in Gilroy, started attending MMS as an 11th grade student and is one of about 34,000 high school seniors across the country commended for their exceptional academic promise.
“Recognition of high-achieving students is essential to advancing educational excellence in our nation,” commented a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which oversees the scholarship program. “We sincerely hope this recognition will enhance their educational opportunities and encourage them in their pursuit of academic success.”
