MMS Students to Perform in SCBT’s “The Nutcracker”

Mount Madonna School students Riley Butler, 5th, and Amelia Busenhart, 7th, will be dancing in Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre’s (SCBT) upcoming production of “The Nutcracker,” December 16, 17, 18 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium.

Riley has been studying dance for six years – four of them focused on ballet, and with SCBT for three years. The upcoming show will be her third “Nutcracker” with SCBT and she will perform the role of “Baby Mouse.”

Amelia has been dancing for SCBT on the Petite Company and now Junior Company for five years. She has been with the same artistic directors and The Studio for 7 years. In addition to ballet, Amelia has also studied jazz and tap. Amelia roles are: Clara, Party Girl, Ribbon Girl and as an understudy for a flower role.

MMS parents Rod and Kelly Caborn are also part of SCBT’s “Nutcracker” cast – Rod will perform as Drosselmeyer, the magician/toymaker who brings the nutcracker to the party, and Kelly is The Maid, with whom Drosselmeyer has a delightfully furtive ‘flirtation’.
