Update, 2/15/2017: Check out the David’s performance from the Santa Clara University Concerto/Aria Competition.
Mount Madonna School (MMS) alumnus David Kerr (’15) will be participating in a Concerto/Aria Competition at Santa Clara University (SCU) on November 5 at 10:00am.
Kerr, a longtime Morgan Hill resident, is an SCU sophomore double majoring in music and psychology. He began playing piano when he was four and currently studies with teacher, Mr. K.K. Koo.
“I’m feeling excellent about this competition, because it’s going to be a great opportunity to perform on a brand new stage and share a part of myself with my new school community,” said Kerr. “The possibility of being able to play with an orchestra is absolutely mind blowing, to say the least, but at this point it’s not the main reason I’m competing, though it would be amazing to have such an opportunity.”
The winners of the competition will have the opportunity to perform with the Santa Clara University orchestra in February 2017. Kerr will be accompanied by his mother Dana; she will play the orchestra portion as second pianist.
The competition is open to the public and begins at 10:00am in SCU’s music department; Kerr, the second contestant at 10:20am, will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
