Juniors to Visit Botshabelo in Africa – Donations Needed

The Junior Class will be departing for South Africa on June 18th. One of the communities they want to visit, gift and serve is  Botshabelo. The community lives literally on a subsistence level and is asking for some basic necessities of life: soap, tooothbrushes and toothpaste, baby products, etc. The full list is printed below.

People can bring donations to SN’s classroom or individual classes can collect first and then bring things to SN’s within the next two weeks. I think most of us have some of these items at home and could easily give what we have. It would be awesome for the MMS community to engage in a full school service project that could help children in need, who have nothing but each other.
Botshabelo, founded by Marion and Con Cloete in 1990, is dedicated to improving the lives of the economically challenged, especially children who have been orphaned by or exposed to HIV/AIDS. Using the traditional African village (and its inherent ubuntu values of cooperation and joint responsibility) as a model, the community works together to break the cycle of poverty and bring hope, safety, education and sustainable growth to all residents.
