Honors: Jack Massion (’10) named as a 2011-12 Civic Engagement Scholar

Jack Massion (’10), currently a student at Kalamazoo College, was recently named as a 2011-2012 Civic Engagement Scholar. Jack is involved with a program called Helping Youth Through Personal Empowerment (HYPE), where he works with kids from a local juvenile youth home.

The inspiration for his involvment with HYPE, according to Jack, originates from a school trip he took during his junior year at MMS, when he travelled with his class to South Africa as part of the Values in World Thought program. In South Africa, Jack met Linzie Thomas and was moved by her work with MyLifE, a youth development organization she founded. Read more about Kalamazoo’s Civic Engagement Scholars:
