6th grade students will visit Live Earth Farm in Watsonville in early October to learn about and conduct investigations on our local food system. They will learn about the local apple industry, organic agriculture, organic pest management, and the farm food web. This field trip ties into our unit on ecology, as students will be learning about how agricultural systems are ecosystems, with inputs, outputs, and interacting parts, and provide ecosystem services to organisms both on the farm and off.
