AP_Access_Badge_IG_2024The College Board has announced that Mount Madonna School (MMS) has been named to the Advanced Placement (AP) Program School Honor Roll, earning the Silver distinction for the 2023-24 school year. This is the second year that MMS has been recognized by the program.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit and maximizing college readiness.

“Mount Madonna School’s continued recognition on the AP School Honor Roll is a testament to the dedication of our students, the excellence of our educators, and our commitment to academic achievement year after year,” commented Head of School Ann Goewert.

Mount Madonna School had 88% of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school, 81% of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 6% of seniors who took five or more AP exams.

“This award recognizes MMS’ college-going culture and our commitment to ensuring that all of our students, including those from underrepresented populations have access to AP courses and AP testing,” commented Shannon Kelly, Mount Madonna’s upper school director. “I am proud of the work MMS does to make AP courses accessible to our students, one of many ways that we help our students achieve their college goals.”

MMS also received the AP Access Award. The 2024 AP School Honor Roll recognizes Mount Madonna School as providing all students with the chance to participate in AP, including students of underrepresented populations.

“AP gives students opportunities to engage with college-level work, to earn college credit and placement and to potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools that have earned this distinction are proof that it is possible to expand access to these college-level courses and still drive strong performance – they represent the best of AP.”
