Class of ’22 Senior Spotlight: Kayla Goldstein

Name, city of residence

Kayla Goldstein, Watsonville

Grade you started at MMS

I started MMS in preschool, left for sixth and seventh grades, and returned halfway through eighth grade.

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by astronomy and things that I believe I can solve, such as algebraic equations and sudoku puzzles.

What is your favorite subject in school, and why?

My favorite subject in school has got to be chemistry. Taking that class combined all of my favorite things: a good teacher, lots of things for me to figure out and solve and blowing things up.

If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?

I feel like I would have to change something small, in case I messed it up, genie-in-a-bottle style, so I would make it so that some cows have lilac spots.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

I would go to either Greece or Iceland.

Name one big challenge in your life right now:

Motivation

What is your dream job and why?

I don’t know that I have a dream job, but I think I would enjoy being a ghostwriter, or maybe a poet. I enjoy writing and if I was a ghostwriter, I would always have something to write about.

What are your three favorite things?

Hoodies, hugs and having fun

Favorite book:

“Ask the Passengers” by A.S. King. It’s an incredible book about a girl who sends her love to the passengers of every flight she sees.

What do you want to do after high school?

Hopefully, I will have my own schedule that I’m in charge of, and make a ton of friends and money.

Something that you are proud of – and why:

I’m proud of the decorations in my room, they perfectly fit my vibe.

Something that makes you smile:

Cats, no matter what type

A favorite MMS memory – and why:

Every “Ramayana!” I’ve been a part of; the experience of being in a play that everyone you know is in, is very cool and bonding.

Top three most-played songs on your favorite playlist:

“Better Off Alone” by Okey Dokey, “The Spins” by Mac Miller and “Four of a Kind” by Magic City Hippies
