Cast List Reflections

Cast List Reflections

Congratulations to all for your engagement in the audition process, and for your trusting those in the room to be positive witness to your experimentation and discovery. Now the directors have the difficult job of assigning the roles. We’re aiming to post both cast lists by Saturday, 10/4, by 3:00 in the afternoon.

For both plays, the cast list simply identifies name, classification or grouping.  Anticipate bringing dimension to your assigned ‘character’. No one is simply a title’.
Usually our roles are much more than anticipated.

Casting does not denote success or failure in terms of growth and expansion. At the same time, disappointment is natural and part of life. For those experiencing sadness or frustration, hang in there; it stings now, but trust the process and find your way back to openness and opportunity.

Rather than attacking fellow actors or the directors in whispered corners, social media or by direct angry email, ask, what can you bring to the process that will contribute and make this play outstanding? A positive attitude not only builds community, but also enables expansion of our own talents because we are willing to invest of ourselves. Friends and families can help greatly by encouraging acceptance, discovery and openness to what is new.

As mentioned, the scripts may change, line and lyric assignments tweaked and switched around. Some of that information we’ll announce at the outset, other decisions will come as the process unfolds. As of now, don’t highlight or count lines nor grow too attached to singing this or that song, as tempting as it may be.

We’ll begin our rehearsal process for all groups on Monday, 10/6. Arrive with an open mind and readiness to begin the journey of discovery. Bring scripts and binders. Our first after school call is for Middle School, Monday, 10/20. We’re still formulating that call and will announce it soon. We look forward to a wonderful invigorating and creative experience for all involved. Let the plays begin.

    The Directing Team,
    Brian, Maya, Sampad and Sinead
