Caborn Sisters Awarded Second Place in Regional Dance Competition

Congratulations to Mount Madonna School students McKenzie and Cassie Caborn for their recent second place dance award!

These talented sisters, McKenzie, 11th, and Cassie, 8th, placed in the Teen Duo/Trio category at an April regional dance convention hosted by Company Dance in Santa Clara. Company Dance conducts a competition tour across the United States; the Santa Clara event was attended by studios northern California and western Nevada.

They performed a soaring lyrical interpretation of the haunting ballad “Breathe Me” by Sia, choreographed by the Artistic Director and Owner of Steps Dance Studio in Watsonville, Carrie McCoid.

“Up until last year my sister and I had each been dancing for over 8 years, and yet we had never danced on stage together,” says McKenzie. “So this year we decided to change that. Through the process of choosing a song, learning the choreography, and performing on stage, we have really bonded, not only as dancers, but as sisters as well.”
