Technology is used in our academic and enrichment curricula to expand student’s creative and critical thinking skills and enable their intuitive and creative abilities. Our faculty and administration work to stay informed about the emerging wealth of new resources. We continually and carefully evaluate and select the tools we feel most support our curriculum and school mission.
FACTORY
The Factory is a STEAM class (integrated science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics). It is a series of lessons and studio time that lasts ten weeks for each grade. Students receive age-appropriate instruction in electrical engineering, physics and motion, coding, and 3D design. They practice with circuits and build their skills with engineering challenges. Making builds creative autonomy, as well as collaborative skills in a discovery-oriented process. Educators call Making an “anti-curriculum” because challenges and standards evolve individually from each student’s creative project. For this reason, there are no grades in a Makers’ studio.
