Students Move Up in Piano Certificate of Merit Program

Congratulations to Mount Madonna School students Given Rehani, 7th, Riley Wagner, 6th, and Zach Wagner, 9th, who recently participated in the Certificate of Merit Program for pian, at the University of California, Santa Cruz. All three passed their level requirements: Given, level one, Riley, level five and Zach, level seven. The Certificate of Merit is a music program offered each year by the Music Teachers Association of California, where students must pass four requirements:  a written theory test, technical performance, sight reading performance and presentation of memorized music selections. At level 4, students are eligible to qualify for Branch Honors. Both Riley and Zach were eligible and earned the honor of playing at Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz on Sunday, April 12, 12:30pm, for their efforts. The recital at Kuumbwa is free and open to the public. All three boys study with Ellen Khayat.
