WATSONVILLE — Three-time Central Coast Section girls volleyball champion Mount Madonna School rode its hottest hand to clinch its sixth Division V final berth.
Err, make that hottest hands — and all of the Hawks had them. Part inspirational, part motivational, part team unity, the Hawks drew fire on the backside of their hands with red ink.
Outside hitter Liana Kitchel said the flames signified energy, and the top-seeded Hawks weren’t lacking any in their 25-14, 25-19, 21-25, 25-19 semifinal win over No. 4 Castilleja at Watsonville High on Thursday night.
