Bob Caplan to Perform At Satori Cellars' Scorpio Celebration

MMS middle school teacher Bob Caplan performs on Sunday, October 21 at Satori Cellars in Gilroy. Bob, a talented accordion player and vocalist, will cover tunes and soulful originals in the genres of reggae, R&B, soul, blues and a wide range of ethnic styles. Come on out and enjoy the music!

Love books? Volunteer to help at the Book Fair. You can decorate and setup, help kids select books, work on refreshments, give a book talk or help pack up. There are lots of ways to participate! This counts as volunteer hours for the school.

MMS Students Watch Last Flight of Space Shuttle Endeavour

The shuttle Endeavour, on its way to its new home at a Los Angeles science museum, flew over the Monterey Bay atop a 747 jumbo jet in the morning on Friday, September 21. MMS students came out of their classrooms to catch a glimpse of the shuttle, which was carried at very low-altitude. In fact, students on campus on the mountain actually looked down on the shuttle as it passed along the fog layer over the bay.

Sophomore Wins Gold in Jiu-Jitsu Competition

Congratulations to Mount Madonna sophomore Carlo LeGan, whose Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills earned him first place gold in a 10-0 shut-out final match at the recent Rising Sun National Tournament in Daly City. This August 25 event marked Carlo’s fourth consecutive shut-out tournament (no points scored against him).

Transportation Procedures

Communication of Change in Transportation:
If you are changing your child’s transportation arrangements, please call our school office the day of the change and inform the receptionist. They, in turn, with notify the teacher and write a note for the bus monitor, so all are aware of the change.

Junior Awarded "Best Boxer" Honors; Prepares for National Competition

Congratulations to aspiring young boxer Rosino LeGan, a junior at Mount Madonna School, on his recent win in weight class and overall “Best Boxer” honors at the Concord Cup, an annual two-day tournament held August 18-19.

LeGan earned a high-points victory (40-8) in his initial fight, resulting in a decision by event judges and referees to name him as top boxer at the event.

All-School Calendar Photo Shoot Day, September 18

The junior class will be creating and selling a 2013 "Rainbow of MMS" wall calendar as a fundraiser for their Sawubona learning journey to South Africa next summer.

This calendar will feature color-themed group photos of each class, PreK through grade 12, in various locations showcasing our lovely campus environment.

All photos will be taken during the school day on Tuesday, September 18.
