Community Service / Volunteer Hours Requirement for MS & HS Students
Mount Madonna School has always valued community service, both in concept and practice. MMS was built, literally and figuratively, by volunteers. Service is a component of Positive Character Development and Creative Self‐expression.
Middle and high school students volunteer, both during school hours and after school, in ways that are meaningful to them.

MS & HS School Dance Guidelines
Chaperones for MMS Dances: Parents/Guardians, in addition to faculty members, are needed to chaperone Middle-High School Dances throughout the school year.
Our dances are fun for all and since most are attended by both middle and high school age-students, we ask that music, dancing and language be appropriate for all levels. Below is a list of guidelines to be followed.
Middle and High School Dress Code
This is a friendly reminder about our dress code at school. While we do not yet have school uniforms, we do require neat and modest dress for school and public events. To be very clear, the following are not appropriate for school: low cut and/or skimpy blouses and shirts, underwear showing, short skirts and dresses, short shorts, ripped or torn clothing. Shorts, dresses, skirts should be at least mid-thigh in length.
MMS: A Green School
Mount Madonna School has been a proud member of the Green Schools Program for several years. As a Green/Waste Free School, we are constantly looking for ways to reduce the amount of trash we generate as a school and instead reuse and recycle many of the items we use on campus every day. (Did you know that Santa Cruz County generates more than one million pounds of trash everyday?)

Teamwork, Cooperation and Mentoring: Alumni Join Students for Camping Adventure
Below a canopy of majestic, towering redwoods, some 40 middle school students gathered with teachers and school alumni earlier this month for an annual Mount Madonna School (MMS) tradition: a four-day outdoor kick-off to the school year – complete with tents, friends, and the wafting smell of campfires.
The trip for sixth through eighth graders incorporated hiking, swimming, science studies and camping at Big Basin, California’s very first state park.
