Summit for the Planet Walk-a-thon and Celebration

Put on your walking shoes, and come join the fun in support of Mount Madonna School (MMS)! The annual Summit for the Planet Walk-a-thon and Earth Day Celebration hosted by MMS is planned for Saturday, April 27. This family-oriented event offers something for all ages, including a 5K or 10K walk along forest trails, solar vehicle races, a kids eco-carnival, live animals, vendors, demonstrations, live music, and delicious, organic foods!
Parents, your help is needed! Please sign up to volunteer using VolunteerSpot (directions follow); help is needed both onsite during the event or in advance. Walk-a-thon registration is also underway; students (and their families) should be registered so they can start obtaining pledges.
Elementary parents are asked to staff the Eco-Carnival. Middle and high school parents are asked to staff the Walk-a-thon. For those who cannot be here on April 26 or 27, there are some tasks that need to be done in advance in April.
All elementary students will be singing after the walk. Many middle and high school students will be offering songs throughout the day. All students are warmly invited to participate in the Trash Fashion Show. Sign up at: http://www.summitfortheplanet.org/join-in-the-trash-fashion-show/

BACKGROUND
Some years ago, we decided to give up our annual auction and choose a fundraising event that better represents our school: a 5K walk-a-thon on our beautiful campus!
For MMS, this event is:
• a fun, educational, community-building event for our current students and their families, faculty and staff
• a major fundraiser for our school
• a way to showcase our campus and our students’ work to our own families and to others
• an outreach event to attract new families
