Middle School ArtsMount Madonna School has an exciting and well-developed performing arts program. The performing arts program weaves the strands of vocal, dance, and acting classes together in a way that generates enthusiasm and excitement for the creative process. Students learn important life skills through dramatic performance: poise and confidence in public speaking, responsible participation in a group endeavor, introspection through character development, and a deep understanding of the creative process. All students participate in the drama program. The Middle School has two major dramatic events during the year. In the winter there is a Middle School theatrical production, which has included such plays as Bye Bye Birdie, Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, Once upon a Mattress, Iolanthe, and Working. In the spring there is a school-wide production of The Ramayana, an ancient classic from India. The Ramayana production brings students, family members, and community together in a joint effort and demonstrates the many fruits that come from intergenerational cooperation. |
