High School Academics
The course of study equals or exceeds that required for entrance into the finest four year institutions and includes:
Four years of English, including literature, grammar, composition, creative writing, and research skills
Four years of social studies including World History, US History, US Government, and World Religions
Four years of mathematics (which is ability grouped) usually advanced Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus (some students take Advanced Calculus)
Three years of Spanish (some students take a fourth year)
Four years of laboratory science including Physics, Biology, Chemistry and AP Environmental Science
Two years of Values in American Thought
A broad range of enrichment classes, such as computer science, dance, physical education, music, drama, art, communication, and advisory class, supplement this core curriculum. Where aptitude and interest warrant, students take additional supplementary or advanced classes at Gavilan and Cabrillo Community Colleges or at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
